The South Devon Society’s Autumn Sale at Worcester was held as a much welcomed live event and saw confident trade for vendors and purchasers from England, Scotland and Wales. Bull averages jumped by £463 on the same sale in 2019.

The decision by the South Devon Herd Book Society to relocate to Worcester for their Autumn Show & Sale proved the right one, and the trade buoyantly bucked the current general market trend for beef production. South Devon vendors and purchasers travelled considerable distances to trade strong breeding stock at this popular breed society venue.
The South Devon Society saw a strong trade at their Spring Sale in Exeter, with a top price of 10,000 guineas, and an average bull price of £3,830 which represents an increase of almost £200 on the year. Heifers also sold well, topping at 2,400 guineas, and averaging £1,943. Overall there was a 92% clearance rate.

SOUTH DEVONS TOP AT 4500 GUINEAS AT RUGBY
The recent pedigree sale of South Devons at Rugby market, on behalf of the Midland Club, saw new buyers acquiring foundation stock, and existing pedigree breeders carefully selecting additions to their herds.
Breed Champion: Broadwood Zeus 1
There was good demand for both South Devon males and females at the Midland Club’s annual spring sale at Rugby Farmers Mart, Stoneleigh, with prices topping at 3,500 guineas and 3,100 guineas respectively, and a 93% clearance.
