The dispersal of the Malthouse pedigree herd of South Devons on behalf of Mr Clive Salmon at Norwich Market showed a strong level of confidence in the future of the breed, backed by good pedigrees and sound performance-recorded cattle. The Sale attracted buyers from across the country and into Scotland, and those seeking a cheap bargain came away disappointed.

Not a single additional animal could have been squeezed into the Stratford Livestock Market for the South Devon Midland Club Breeders Club Sale, and the catalogue provided a wide choice for buyers to select both specialist breeding genetics, and foundation stock from the dispersal of the Fosmac herd of pedigree South Devons.
South Devon cattle returned to Skipton Auction Mart for the second annual show and sale held under the auspices of the South Devon Herd Book Society. (Wed, Nov 6)
Paul and Pam Harrison, who run the Brafferton herd in Tollerton, York, and sent out last year’s female champion, stepped up their performance to land the 2013 supreme championship with their first prize bull, the fully home-bred 18-month-old Brafferton Hadrian 21, by the prolific Brafferton Hadrian 1.
