Harper Adams University in Shropshire took delivery in mid-November of 35 South Devon steers bred by W J Wright & Son whose Oxey herd is in Leicestershire.

They form the basis of a study by the University, led by Simon Marsh, which will evaluate the replacement of concentrates with a high energy forage diet, using intensively finished weaned spring born suckled steers.  The animals have been performance recorded, and have been split into two groups, and will be weighed regularly (as well as at start and finish) during the trial.
